Don’t Have Carbonated Drinks
Carbonated drinks contain a lot of sugar content which is harmful to your teeth. A single can of soft drink can contain as much as 39 grams of sugar – that’s almost 5 spoons of sugar. If you have a habit of constantly drinking carbonated soft drinks, make sure that you reduce the consumption of these drinks.
Have Sugar Substitutes
Fruits are especially healthy and good for your teeth, especially apples. Nuts work great as a snack and don’t contain a high amount of sugar or carbohydrates. There are many foods that are good for your dental health which you can use as a substitute for sugary food items. This way, if you have a sweet tooth, then you are able to consume sweet but healthy food items and prevent cavities as well.
What if You Have Sugary Foods
It’s difficult to avoid sugary foods completely. However, you need to limit yourself and only have it on special occasions. And, when you do have it, make sure you brush your teeth.
Sugar overtime builds up in your mouth, turns acidic and thus, results in cavity formation. Instead of checking if you have cavities, cut down on the sweet foods you eat. It’s better to cut down on sugary food than to have a toothache and go through the excruciating pain.
